2 Muslim villagers shot dead in Nilaave'li

Two Muslim villagers were shot dead by unidentified armed persons Wednesday night around 7.30 p.m. when they were traveling in a tractor to cut firewood in the nearby jungle in Nilaave'li which is located along Trincomalee-Pulmoaddai road, about 16 km of north of east port city. Four other Muslim villagers were seriously injured in this incident, according to Kuchchave'li police.

Bodies of the dead had been brought to the Trincomalee general hospital for identification and postmortem.

The Trincomalee Magistrate is expected to hold the inquest into these deaths Thursday afternoon.
