Family man shot dead in Vadamaraadchi

Unidentified armed men shot and killed a young family man Thursday around 6:30 a.m in Thoampu, Imaiyaa’nan area in Vadamaraadchi as he came out of his house, his wife said in the inquest into the killing. Her husband had been threatened to death by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers many times and had hidden himself for a long time, she said.

The victim was identified as Nadarasa Marojan, 21.

The killers arriving on more than 2 motorcycles had been waiting outside the house and fired more than eight shots with pistols.

SLA soldiers had tried to arrest Marojan many times during the cordon and searches in the area, his wife said.

Point Pedro magistrate who conducted the inquest into the death at the site of the killing directed the police to hand over the body to Valveddiththu’rai government hospital mortuary.

Wednesday night around 1:30 p.m. unidentified armed men on motorcycle shot and killed a 48-year-old family man in Valveddiththu’rai Maavadi area, 1 km from the place Marojan was shot and killed Thursday morning.
