The decomposed body of male with hands and legs tied by wires was located Tuesday on Ma’nkumapaan beach, Oorkaavattu’rai (Kayts) police, said. The body was clad in a pair of black jeans, and measured 5' 2" according to the police.
Kayts magistrate, Ms. Joy Mahatheva, who visited the site and inspected the decomposed corpse, directed the police to hand over the body to Jaffna Teaching Hospital for identification. The victim may have been first bound and then dumped into the sea, the police said. Similar incidents of mutilated bodies and corpses stuffed in sacks have previously been found on the beaches of the islets of Jaffna. Though the corpses recovered were sent for forensic tests, they have been interred at government expense, and the results of forensic tests have never been released to the public, residents in the islets of Jaffna said.
