TMVP gunmen shoot dead student, injures another in Akkaraipattu

Gunmen of Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP), the paramilitary-cum-political party, opened fire Tuesday around 9:00 p.m on two students in front of their office at Aalayadiveampu in Akkaraipattu police division in Ampaa’rai district, killing one and seriously injuring the other, sources in Akkaraipattu said.

The student killed is Murukappan Kethess, 18, and the seriously injured student is Alliraj Kamalraj, 19.

Kethees is temporarily working as a mason after sitting for the August GCE O level examination while Kamalraj is at home after appearing for the same examination.

The gunmen opened fire on them as they were returning after worshiping in Aalayadiveampu Murukan Koayil.

The body of the victim is kept at Akkaraipattu hospital mortuary while the injured student is admitted in the same hospital.

Akkaraipattu police are investigating into the shooting.
