LTTE Jayanthan brigade commandos raid paramilitary camp, 2 killed

A commando unit of the elite Jayanthan Brigade of the Liberation Tigers of Tamileelam (LTTE) in Batticaloa raided a paramilitary mini-camp in Vavu'natheevu Saturday night killing two and causing injuries to several others, the Tigers said in a note issued to media from Batticaloa on Sunday. The Tigers claimed they seized four assault rifles and ammunitions from the camp.

The minicamp of paramilitary personnel with Sri Lankan military soldiers, located at Paththaraikkaddai village was raided around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The commando unit of the Tigers brought the camp under its control for 30 minutes and seized two T-56 Type-2 assault rifles, two T-56 Type-1 rifles, 10 magazines, 650 rounds, a grenade and two holsters, the Tigers said. There was no casualties to their commando unit that carried out the raid, the Tigers said.
