Tamil Nationalist Movement (TNM) leader Pazha Nedumaran on Monday said that he was shocked and dismayed at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's attempts to "justify the Centre's inaction." Mr. Nedumaran, who is also the convener of the Tamil Eelam Supporters Co-ordinating Committee, said that the widespread protests extending to all areas of Tamil Nadu reflected that people were rejecting Mr. Karunanidhi's position and urged the party leaders, who have expressed disappointment to the ineffective response of the India's Center to the resolutions adopted in the Tamil Nadu All Party Conference, to decide upon follow up action.

"When the Chief Minister says, that we have to be cognizant of the limits of Center's Power to intervene in a neighbour's internal affairs, we ask him, why the Chief Minister didn't realize such limits before he crafted the resolution?," the press release questioned. "When the Center gave arms and war materials to the Sri Lanka Government, did not the Center realize that it is affecting Sri Lanka's internal affairs? "When Colombo uses India supplied arms to kill and maime Tamils in the NorthEast, has India exceeded its power if it forces Colombo to stop the war against the Tamils?," the release said. "When the Chief Minister who led in drafting the resolution backtracks, the time has come for all other parties to cooperate and take important decisions. "The widespread protests extending to all areas of Tamil Nadu is the reflection of our people rejecting Chief Minister's position. "Let us all be prepared to move foreward the Tamil Nadu people's struggle further to find relief to our brothers and sisters in Tamil Eelam," said the press release.
