3 Tamils shot dead in 3 separate shootings in Batticaloa

Unidentified gunmen shot and killed three Tamils Thursday night in three police divisions in Batticaloa district, sources in Batticaloa said. 26 persons have been shot dead during the past three days in Batticaloa district, and no one has been arrested by the Police related to any of the killings.

In the first incident, a youth who had gone in search of his mother in Thaazhangkudaa area in Kaaththaankudi police division Thursday around 8:00 p.m was gunned down by unidentified armed men. His 60-year old mother sustained serious injuries in the shooting.

The mother was first rushed to Aaraiyampathi district hospital and then transferred to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

In the second incident unidentified armed men shot and killed A. Vickneswaran, 27, in Ka'luvaangkea'ni Thursday night around 8:15 p.m.

Ea'raavoor police handed over Vickneswaran's body to the Chengkaladi hospital, hospital sources said.

In the third incident, unidentified gunmen shot dead K. Ramesh, 33, Thursday night around 8:30 p.m, at his house in Peaththaazhai in Vaazhaichcheani police division.

The body is kept at Vaazhaichcheanai hospital.
