Tamil civilian shot dead in Batticaloa district

Unidentified gunmen forcibly took away a Tamil family man from his house in Pankudaave’li area in Karadiyanaa’ru police division Friday around 12:00 p.m and shot him killed, police said. Meanwhile, a Tamil youth shot and seriously injured by unknown armed men in Ea’raavoor police division Thursday night succumbed to his wounds Friday night in Batticaloa Teaching Hospital.

The family man shot and killed Friday was identified as Subramaniam Nesarasa, 35, the father of two children.

Nesarasa was asleep in his house when the killers came to his house.

Karadiyanaa’ru police recovered Neasarasa’s body and handed it over to Chengkaladi hospital.

Meanwhile, Brown Ithayachandran, 24, who was shot and seriously injured in Maariyamman Veethi, Kuruchchi 1, Maavadiveampu in Ea’raavoor police division Thursday night succumbed to his injuries Friday night in Batticaloa Teaching Hospital where he had been admitted.

The police are investigating into both killings.
