Police arrest 9 Tamil youths in Mannaar

Nine Tamil youths were taken into custody during a cordon and search operation conducted in Mannaar town Tuesday from about 9:00 p.m till 10:00 p.m. They are still detained in the Mannaar police station and being interrogated, media sources said.

Houses and vehicles in Moor Street, Sinnakadai, Uppuku'lam and Thoaddave'li were searched and their identities were checked by the police and Sri Lanka Army.

The police said only nine youths had failed to prove their identity and justify their presence in the location.
