More Moothoor IDPs transferred to Ki値iveddi

Aaraiyampathi Vayiravar Koayil welfare centre in Batticaloa district was closed down Tuesday following the transfer of the final batch of 51 members of eighteen Tamil families displaced from Tamil villages located in the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) High Security Zone (HSZ) in Moothoor east in Trincomalee district during 2006 April military operation. They were transported in three State sector buses via Vaakarai and Verukal to Ki値iveddi Tuesday morning. They would be sheltered in welfare centres located in Ki値iveddi, Paddiththidal and Thillaangkear地i till alternative lands are found for them, civil authority sources said.

Batticaloa district secretariat sources said these IDPs were transferred to Ki値iveddi on their wish.

The IDPs, however, said they have no alternative other than to obey the instruction of the authority concerned.

Meanwhile, more Moothoor east IDP families now being held in welfare centers located in Chaththurukko地daan and Paalameanmadu in Batticaloa district are scheduled to be transferred to Ki値iveddi in Moothoor division on July 16 and July 21, according to Batticaloa District Secretariat sources.
