Police arrest Muslim youth in Puththa'lam

Sri Lanka police Saturday arrested a Muslim youth at Wanathavilluwa in Puththa'lam distirict on reports that he was alleged to have provided information to LTTE during the conflict. The police said he was acting as an informant to the LTTE in past.

The youth has been identified as Mohamed Salim and is being detained at Wanathavilluwa (Sinhalacized form of Tamil village name Va'n'naaththivillu) police station.

Preliminary investigation by the Police is said to have revealed that the suspect provided the LTTE with maps and information about Wilpattu and Wanathavilluwa areas.

The suspect, detained at Wanathavilluwa police station, is being questioned about his former contacts with the LTTE.
