Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) parliamentarian Venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka
Thera Thursday at a press conference made a scathing attack on General
(retd) Sarath Fonseka, the opposition backed common candidate that he
(Sarath) was a part of an international conspiracy aimed at making way
for the intervention of foreign troops into the country. He declined
to elaborate the allegation. The Buddhist monk is leading a group of
the JHU.
“General Fonseka has become a pawn to forces that had attempted to
disrupt the war efforts with directives from some western countries.
He is not suitable for political office, President or otherwise. If
Sarath Fonseka becomes President of the country, a multi-national
force would enter the country. That would be disastrous to the future
of the country,” he added. He declined to elaborate on his allegation
when pressed for details by media persons attending the briefing. “President Mahinda Rajapakse and Defence Secretary Gothabaya Rajapakse
should also share the credit for the war victory. General Sarath
Fonseka cannot take all the credit for himself” said Ven. Uduwe
Dhammaloka Thera.
