6 pay deposits to contest presidential polls

Six prospective candidates from recognized political parties Thursday paid their deposits to submit nominations for the forthcoming presidential election which will be held on January 26. The nominations close on December 17, Sri Lankan Election Department said.

Mr. Sritunga Jayasuriya from the United Socialist Party, Mr.M.B.Thaminimulla from the Okkoma Wasiyo Okkoma Rajawaru Sanwidanaya (All are Citizens All are Kings Organization), Mr.P.A Peter Nelson from the Sri Lanka Progressive Party, Mr. Saran Manamendra from the New Sihala Urumaya Party, Mr. A. Asoka Suraweera from the National Development Front and Mr. P.D.A Liyanage from the Sri Lanka Workers Party paid their deposits Thursday.
