[TamilNet, Friday, 16 April 2010, 07:14 GMT]
The first parliamentary group meeting of the Tamil National Alliance is to be held on Sunday in Trincomalee. Thirteen parliamentarians elected from the five districts in North and East on the Ilangkai Thamizh Arasuk Kadchi (ITAK) ticket and the only national list parliamentarian will attend the first group meeting, Mr. R.Sampanthan, a senior leader of the TNA.

ITAK is a constituent of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA).

In the last general election held on April five parliamentarians have been elected from the Jaffna district, three from the Vanni district, three from the Batticaloa district and one each from the Trincomalee and Ampaa'rai districts, altogether thirteen.

TNA is to be allocated one more from the national list depending on the total number of votes polled island wide.

The election results of the Trincomalee district have not been officially announced due to the re-poll in a polling station in Kumpu'ruppiddi village, north of Trincomalee town that is fixed for April 2010.
