Families to be resettled suffer without assistance in Mannaar

Many of the uprooted families to be resettled in Periyapa’ndivirichchaan in Mannaar district brought and lodged in Periyapa’ndivirichchaan Mahaa Viththiyaalayam have not been supplied with any materials to clear their lands in which they are expected to resettle, sources in Mannaar said. Meanwhile, Periyapa’ndivirichchaan Mahaa Viththiyaalayam where the families are staying is to start functioning again Monday, the sources added.



234 uprooted families consisting of 738 persons were brought to Periyapa’ndivirichchaan Mahaa Viththiyaalayam and some of them who had tools with them have begun renovating their dwellings to resettle.

But most of the uprooted families remain in the school building as they do not have the necessary tool to clear their lands and repair the dwellings.

The families have appealed to the government authorities in the area to immediately supply them with the necessary tools to work.
