The exhumed remains of Tharsika was brought to Oorkaavattu’rai magistrate court and from there sent to Colombo Wednesday night to be handed over to Colombo Judicial Medial officer for fresh medical examination.

Tharsika’s mother had filed a petition in Oorkaavattu’rai court 19 July requesting fresh medical examination of her daughter’s body as she suspected she was sexually abused before being killed.

She had further stated in her petition that she does not have faith in conducting the medical examination in Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

Oorkaavttu’rai magistrate had ordered exhumation of Tharsika’s body.

The burial grounds had been under police guard since magistrate’s order to exhume Tharsika’s body.
