Sri Lanka Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rishad Bathiyutheen, paid a sudden visit to Mannaar government hospital 10 August where he visited the patients admitted with dengue fever. He was told that there was no x-ray machine in the hospital and there was a shortage of doctors.

Rishad Bathiyutheen assured the hospital administration that he will take immediate steps to have an x-ray machine installed and to appoint additional doctors.

Sri Lanka government had declared the third week of August National Dengue Prevention Week, as dengue cases spike during the months-long monsoon season.
