Lightnening kills fisherman in Vadamaraadchi

Lightening struck a fisherman who was about to go fishing in Vadamaraadchi in Jaffna peninsula Friday around 7:00 a:m killing him on the spot, sources in Point Pedro said. It has been raining persistently in the peninsula the last few days with thunderstorms and lightening. Recently, another fisherman was killed and some other fishermen injured in Vadamaraadchi sea by lightening.

The fisherman killed was identified as S. Mariavaxan, 34, a resident of Inparutti in Vadmaraadchi.

Point Pedro police recovered the victim’s body and handed it over to Valveddiththu’rai government hospital.
