Parliamentarian Radhakrishnan to lead UPF political wing

V.Radhakrishnan, a senior parliamentarian of the Ceylon Workers
Congress, one of the constituent parties of the ruling United Peoples
Freedom Alliance (UPFA) is to lead the political wing of the Upcountry
Peoples Front (UPF) which was founded and led by late Mr. Periyasamy
Chandrasekaran.
Mrs. Shanthini Devi Chandrasekaran is currently leading the UPF after
the demise of her husband. Mr. Radhakrishnan was elected to the parliament on the CWC ticket in
April general election. Later due to difference of opinion with the
CWC leadership as his request for a post of Deputy Minister in the
UPFA government was turned down. Later he announced that he would sit
in opposition in parliament as an independent member. Radhakrishnan held discussion with UPF leader Mrs. Chandrasekaran and other
leaders Thursday in Colombo. He later issued a statement revealing his
future course of action saying that he has decided to join the UPF. Radhakrishnan would be taking up the post of the leader of the political wing of the
UPF after 21st October.
