Bomb blast destroys PLOTE office

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 18 May 1999, 03:52 GMT]
A powerful bomb exploded at the PLOTE's office at Poonthoddam, 2 km north-east of Vavuniya town around 5 a.m. this morning. The building was destroyed in the explosion. No one was injured.

Sources said that PLOTE cadres did not stay at the office last night as it was considered unsafe following recent clashes with TELO.

Meanwhile the bodies of the senior TELO members, Rajaratnam Kugarajah alias Kuga, Vavuniya district organiser and Sivalingam Sivathasan alias Thas, in charge of finance were brought to the group's office at Vairavapuliyankulam, in Vavuniya.

Both of them were shot dead in Colombo on Saturday.

TELO sources said that the funeral of Rajaratnam will be held in Vavuniya tomorrow.

They said the body of Sivathasan, was sent to the eastern town Batticaloa today where his funeral will take place.
