EUSL becomes playground for Karuna politics

Paramilitary leader and a Deputy Minister of Colombo, Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan, has been blamed by the students and the administration of the EUSL for intervening into the affairs of the EUSL by entering the premises escorted by Ea'raavoor Police and claiming to resolve a dispute between the students and the administration of the Arts Faculty for pursuing his politics, sources at the EUSL said. Mr. Muralitharan entered the premises on Tuesday when Art Faculty students were in discussions with the Vice Chancellor and the Faculty Dean following a protest by students over 6 months delay in announcing their examination results

EUSL Arts Faculty students have been boycotting classes in protest for the failure of releasing results of the two half yearly examinations of first year students and the results of the examinations of second and third year students.

The Deputy Minister is alleged to have intimidated and exerted pressure on the Student Federation to allow him to do his politics inside the EUSL.

However EUSL sources said that the Arts Faculty students called off their boycott following a settlement reached by the parties concerned with the Dean of the Arts Faculty. Teaching has resumed Wednesday.
