On Tuesday the three remaining councillors of the Pachchilaipalli PS, representing the PLOTE, resigned from their posts
Blast destroys transformer in UvaThe electricity supply to the hill town of Badulla in the Uva province had been disrupted following a bomb blast that destroyed a transformer in the area around midnight Tuesday, said Sri Lankan police sources. The Sri Lankan army and police conducted a combined search operation in the area. Sources said that the security forces have detained a few civilians for interrogation. On Monday two transformers were destroyed in Vavuniya.
Kommanthurai SLA collects civilian detailsThe Sri Lanka Army at the Kommanthurai camp has asked the Divisional Secretariat in Chenkalady to collect details of civilians living in the area. Chenkalady is 15 km. north of the eastern town of Batticaloa. The SLA has taken this measure after an increase in small-scale attacks in the area by the Liberation Tigers, said army sources.
