Tiger attacks in Jaffna continue

The Liberation Tigers attacked the defences of the Sri Lankan army's 52-4 Brigade in Chavakachcheri around 9.30 p.m. last night. Heavy fighting took place for more than an hour in the area.
Many SLA soldiers were killed and wounded said sources close to the army today. But exact figures could not be determined. The Tigers engaged the army with heavy weapons said sources. The LTTE attacked around the same time the SLA position at Kachchai directly southeast of Chavakachcheri on the coast of the Jaffna lagoon. The Sri Lankan army opened up with long range artillery from its positions in Kondavil in the direction of the Kachchai coast while the fighting was on.
