New transfer scheme for teachers in East from January

The cabinet of the Eastern Provincial Council (EPC) has decided to remove M.T.Nizam from the post of Provincial Director of Education, transferring him to another post in the Provincial Ministry of Education, said Mr.M.S.Uthumalebbe, media spokesman and the provincial minister of road development. The provincial cabinet has also authorized its Chief Secretary to hold inquiry against Provincial Director of Education Mr. Nizam into the expenditure to the tune 4.7 million rupees on holding seminars and workshops within the Eastern Province and outside the province to formulate the aborted teacher transfer scheme and to submit his report within two weeks. The cabinet of the Eastern Provincial Council (EPC) has appointed a special committee with the current Provincial Minister of Education Wimalaweera Dissanayake as advisor and Provincial Chief Secretary, Provincial Education Ministry Secretary and top department education officials as its members to formulate another transfer scheme for teachers in Eastern province in consultation with the Zonal Education officials without affecting the education and teaching community to move out excess teachers found in a school to another suffering from shortage of teachers. The committee has been asked to submit its report on the new transfer scheme to the provincial cabinet that is to be implemented from 01 January 2012.
