A former member of the PLOTE and TELO, who was working as an informant for the Sri Lanka Army's intelligence at Patpody Camp in the Batticaloa district was shot dead by unidentified armed men at Navatkuda, about one km. south of Batticaloa Town. Kathankudy police found his body at Kallady this morning.

Sources in the eastern town said, Poopalaratnam Inparajah alias Ravi, 30, was working for the SLA's intelligence after leaving the paramilitary groups.

He then went to a middle-eastern country and worked there for 18 months.

Inparajah came back to the island on April 20, this year and has been working with the SLA at Kallady camp

His relatives said that unidentified men who came to his residence last night had spoken in Sinhalese and asked Inparajah to accompany them.

The Kathankuddy police found his body this morning and handed over to the Batticaloa hospital.

An inquest into the death was held at the hospital. The police are conducting investigations.
