Missing Muslim youth in Batticaloa found dead after one month

A 17-year-old Muslim youth reported missing from 05 August was found dead on Friday. The police recovered the highly decomposed body in Meeraakea'ni area. The youth, a resident of Meeraakea'ni village in Ea'raavoor division has been identified as Abdul Majeed Harris Anwar. According to a complaint lodged with the Ea'raavoor Police by his sister, the deceased was last seen before he left home to collect firewood in the nearby cashew plantation.

She identified the remains of her brother with the shirt he was wearing on the day he left home at the inquest held at the site by the Batticaloa Magistrate Mr.N.M.M.Abdullah.

The Magistrate directed the police to hold inquiry into the circumstances that led to the death of the youth.
