Remains of dead SLA soldier recovered in Poonakari

The remains of male body suspected to be of a soldier of the Sri Lanka Army was recovered by the SL police on receipt of information from a farmer on Thursday from Poonakari Vaadiyadi Villadikku'lam area in the Ki'linochchi district.

The farmer had noticed the body when he was attempting to remove a sand bank found on his fields to prepare for cultivation for the first time after 1991. The farmer suspected it as of a soldier with the headgear. He first brought this matter to the Village Level Officer.

Thereafter the District Judge P.Sivakumar Friday visited the site accompanied by the Judicial Medical Officer and directed the authorities concerned to send the remains for forensic examination.
