Sea route arranged for serious Vanni patients[TamilNet, Sunday, 01 August 1999, 16:21 GMT]The ICRC commenced today the transport of serious patients via a sea route from the areas held by the LTTE to Mannar hospital, said sources. Two patients: Sinnarajah Kandiah (56) a displaced refugee from Jaffna, Columbuthurai and Pushparajan Jude Satheeskumar (22) from Vidaththalthivu, who had been admitted to the Mallavi hospital, were taken to the Mannar hospital at around 5.30 pm today sources added. According to Mannar government officials, six boats have been arranged to bring six patients from the Vanni hospitals tomorrow. Meanwhile, officials at the Department of Education said that question papers and other stationary for the G.C.E A level examination reached the Iluppaikadavai ferry at around 1.30 pm today. The question papers and stationary were then taken by UNHCR officials and officials at the Department of Education to Mallave Maha Vidyalayam, the officials added. The imprest for unpaid salary for teachers in the Vanni area has also been sent along with the question papers, sources at the Provincial Department of Education said.
