  • Agreement: K.Ganesh, the Government Agent (Vuvaniya) near the furthermost FDL of the SLA at Mankulam with his officials is seen in a discussion with an ICRC official.

  • First move: An ambulance carrying patients from Akkarayankulam Hospital in Kilinochchi district cross the civilian safety zone (CSZ) between the FDLs of the LTTE and the SLA on August 9 morning.

  • Old hand: A lorry which has come from Mankulam is seen ready to return to the Vanni after cross loading the first consignment of food.

  • Safe escort: ICRC official leads the first batch of civilians stranded in Vavuniya for over the last six weeks into the civilian safety zone, while SLA officials look on.
