Colombo systematically discriminates uprooted Tamils in Ampaa'rai: EPC Councillor

[TamilNet, Sunday, 27 March 2016, 23:24 GMT]
While the current regime of genocidal Sri Lanka is engaged in propaganda activities through donating houses to sections of Eezham Tamils to showcase its ‘one-way reconciliation’, especially through media involving journalists from South, the majority of uprooted Tamils are being systematically kept away from resettling in their villages, accused T. Kalaiyarasan, an elected member of the Eastern Provincial Council, on Sunday. The Tamil families who resettled on their own effort in are being systematically harassed in Ampaa'rai. Not a single journalist from South has ever exposed this systemic neglect, the EPC Councillor said. Colombo government's Archaeology Department, Forest Department and Wildlife Departments are working closely with Buddhist monks and the occupying Sinhala military to keep the Tamils away from their traditional villages in Ampaa'rai district, he said.

The SL Ministry for Resettlement and Prison Reforms was providing 201 huts. These huts were constructed at the expense of 200,000 rupees each (950 British Pounds). This is merely an eyewash, Kalaiyarasan said.

Rajapaksa government had systematically reduced the figures of displaced Tamils from Thangka-vealaayutha-puram, Kangchi-kudichchaa'rau, Chaakamam, Thaa'ndiyadi in Thirukkoayil administrative division. Likewise the figures of displaced Tamils were reduced also in Poththuvil division where people were uprooted from Kanakar-kiraamam and from Naavithan-ve'li division, where people were chased away from Chava'lakkadai and Cetral Camp colonies in the past.

Rajapaksa regime claimed that it had resettled all the Tamils. Maithiripala-Ranil regime is also keeping the statistics and figures same way. It is only aiming at propaganda-oriented activities while continuing the structural genocide.

The EPC Councillor from the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has earlier gone on record openly criticising the TNA collaborators with occupying Colombo for not fighting for the resettlement of the uprooted Eezham Tamils from his constituency.

Hundreds of uprooted Tamils from Thangka-vealaauthapuram, Kagnchi-kudichchaa'ru, Chaakamam, Thaan'ndiyadi, Chava'lakkadai, Central Camp colonies 1,2 and 3 still remain uprooted in Thirukkoayil area without their records even being recognised as displaced families, Mr Kalaiyarasan further said.
