SL-TID attempts to harass NPC Minister with questioning in ‘4th Floor’

Northern Provincial Council (NPC) Education Minister K. Sarweswaran on Tuesday told TamilNet that a group of officers from the SL Terrorist Investigative Division (TID) came to see him today at his NPC ministerial office with a handwritten note, which was supposed to be a summons for questioning him at the 4th Floor of the TID in Colombo. The NPC Minister declined to accept their call based on two grounds, he said.
The first reason was that the paper they had was not an authentic document. The other reason was that the date and time mentioned in the letter were not suitable for him as his ministerial schedule was tight between June 05 and June 14. “If they can come for a provincial minister with such a poorly produced summons in which they didn't even have his name correct, imagine the fate of the common public who get harassed with instructions to attend TID interrogations in Colombo,” the NPC Minister further said. The latest TID threat comes in the wake of Tamils marking Mu'l'livaaykkaal Remembrance Day as Tamil Genocide Day on 18 May at the request of NPC Chief Minister Justice C.V. Wigneswaran. The SL TID has also been harassing certain ex-LTTE members and the mothers of enforced disappeared, who are opposed to the so-called Office for Missing Persons, which they describe as a farce. The TID, questioning the women, has claimed it was acting on the instructions coming from the SL Presidential Secretariat.
