[TamilNet, Tuesday, 30 October 2018, 14:13 GMT]
The SL departments of Forest, Wild-Life and Archaeology have seized 30,272 acres of lands in Mannaar district while the occupying SL Army and Navy continue to retain 2,583 acres of public and private lands, the officials of Mannaar District Secretariat said. SL Forest Department has seized 13,890 acres of public lands and 2,920 lands that belong to private owners.

SL Department of Wild-Life Conservation is the second largest agent of land grab in the district. It has seized 10,304 acres of public lands as well as 3,145 lands of private owners.

SL Archaeology Department has seized 11 acres of public lands and 2 acres of private grounds, according to the statistics obtained from the civil sources at the District Secretariat.
