‘Eelam War V’ is knowledge-war against ‘political COIN’: Swiss youth group

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 21 May 2019, 13:46 GMT]
Switzerland-based Eezham Tamil youth group, ‘Phoenix the Next Generation’ and its media front ‘Puradsi Media’ (meaning revolutionary media) has announced a three-point programme to confront the ongoing political counter-insurgency (political COIN) that has been deployed against the Tamil diaspora by the powers and the SL State who want the diaspora to either abandon or compromise the doctrine of Tamil Eelam. The Phoenix group came up with the initiative at the book launch of “Structures of Tamil Eelam: A Handbook”. The book launch took place at the Archives Centre, known as “Thmaizh-ka'la'ri”, which is attached to Chaiva-ne'rik-koodam Archives Centre in Bern, Switzerland.

Book launch

Nitharsan, the coordinator of Puradsi Media led the launch event where the first copy of the publication was dedicated to those who sacrificed their lives for Tamil Eelam.

Copies of the book were presented to selected individuals from educational, spiritual sectors of the diaspora community in Switzerland as well as to a former Tamil Eelam fighter.

The book was compiled by a 20-year-old girl operating under the nom-de-plume ‘Senchudar Gemini’.

Nitharsan, in his address, said that the work to compile the details for the book began in 2010 and that nine individuals in the diaspora were involved in the project, two providing design and format, and seven people assisting in data gathering and associated insight.

Nitharsan was explaining the three-point agenda for the work to continue. The first one was a request extended to former LTTE fighters providing evidence-based information to improve the compilation. Then, he went on explaining how the SL State and the abetting powers were deploying their political COIN to deceive the Tamil diaspora into compromising its stance regarding the doctrine of Tamil Eelam. He said empowerment through knowledge would enable the diaspora to resist the designs. The third point was about being creative in conceiving new political spaces for the reflection of the doctrine of Tamil Eelam.

The Phoenix group identified the three-point programme passionately as “Eelam War V”, he said. It is different from the previous “Eelam wars” as it is an information struggle against the forces that seek to wage political “counter-insurgency” and psychological operations against the Eezham Tamils, he told the packed gathering in Bern.
