Military minds of New Delhi, Colombo stage ‘book fair’ in Jaffna though quisling Governor

The SL Governor to North Suren Raghavan, who is the Tamil agent of Maithiripala Sirisena, the SL President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, has organised a book fair in Jaffna this week. The military intelligence outfits of New Delhi and Colombo were collaborating behind the scene to sophisticatedly mix selected books from Tamil Nadu with publications depicting the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) as ‘terrorists’. The target audience of the book fair is the younger generation of Eezham Tamils. The officers of the occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka were invited as the special guests to the event along with the Mayor of Jaffna and the Tamil children wearing Sinhala costumes were garlanding the guests at the event held under the patronage of the SL Governor at the Veerasingam Hall.
The “Ceylon Booksellers, Importers And Exporters Association” is the official organiser of the exhibition of the books. Children books in Sinhala translated into Tamil in India were prominently featured in the book fair. Usually, publications on the Eezham Tamil struggle, particularly those featuring LTTE Leader Velupillai Pirapharan in the front covers, gain prominence at independently organised Tamil book fairs in India and in the diaspora. Alarmed by the prevailing trend in the Tamil book fairs, the military counter-insurgency outfits of New Delhi and Colombo have started to experiment with their version of Tamil book fair deceiving the commercial actors in Jaffna and elsewhere, informed sources at the secretariat of the SL Governor in Jaffna said. The occupying SL military has been insisting on interacting with the school children in the North both during the regime of Rajapaksa as well with the present regime of Maithiripala and Wickramasinghe. During the regime of Rajapaksa, the SL military was insisting through the then ex-military Sinhala Governor Major-General (retd) Chandrasri not to stage any event in the schools without inviting the military commanders and officers as the guests. Although there was some change in the approach after 2015, the SL military was refusing to give up its so-called ‘assistance’ programmes to the school children. Tamil academics in Jaffna observed that the practice of inviting SL military officers as guests has resurfaced with the installation of genocidaire Shavendra Silva as the commander of the SL Army.
