Concentrate on nation-building beyond choiceless electoral politics of South: TCSF

The post-war electoral politics in the South of the island has narrowed down the options available to the Tamils in the presidential elections to the survivalist choice between the lesser of two evils, as witnessed in 2010, 2015 and also this time, says Tamil Civil Society Forum (TCSF) in a statement issued on Tuesday. It is outright stupidity to believe that one should choose the long-term danger than the immediate one or vice versa. The Tamil people should have this in mind while voting, the TCSF statement said.



Both the mainstream candidates have not only failed to address the concerns of the Tamils constructively, but they have also been double-tongued and deceitful, saying something to Tamils and something else to the Sinhalese.

Ultimately, the electoral politics of the South has brought the Tamils down to the pathetic state of choiceless politics of survivalism.

The TCSF has, however, failed to indicate the ultimate culprits behind sustaining the choiceless paradigm to the nation of Eezham Tamils in the island, commented Tamil activists in Jaffna.
