Heavy rain bursts tank bunds

The Vannerikkulam tank in the western Vanni burst its bunds as rains continue to wreak havoc in the northern jungles regions. People living in Akkarayan, Konavil and Skandapuram have been affected by the floods from the tank which might submerge some inner roads if the rains do not cease soon say residents.

Meanwhile civilians are finding it difficult to travel between Mullaithivu and the western parts of the Vanni as the road which passes by the Iranamadu tank sluices still remains submerged under the gushing waters of its spill.
