Attack on SLA in Thundy

Three Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were killed and at least 10 wounded at Thundy in Jaffna, yesterday, in an artillery attack by the Liberation Tigers from Pooneryn, sources said.
The artillery shells fired by the LTTE fell near the SLA camp in the Thundy area, close to Colombuthurai in Jaffna town area, sources said. Meanwhile SLA authorities in Jaffna have asked the election department to shift six more polling stations in Jaffna town and its suburbs, sources there said. The SLA wants polling stations located at Koddady, Navanthurai, Gurunagar, Pashaiyoor, Colombuthurai and Navatkuli to be shifted to other places. These polling stations are in the coastal areas. Earlier, the election department took steps to shift several polling stations in Thenmaradchchi area to safer places. The Voice of Tigers (VoT) said in its morning news broadcast this morning that the LTTE's Unceasing Waves 3 operation is continuing and warned civilians living near army camps and artillery positions to move away to safe areas immediately.
