Hundreds of Trincomalee bound passengers were disappointed yesterday for the second time when they were told at Kankesanthurai port that the cargo vessel Lanka Muditha would not leave as scheduled, civil sources said.
As requested by the Jaffna Civil Office on Wednesday, hundreds of passengers reported their presence in the morning to civil officers who deal with travelling. Thereafter all passengers were taken to Kankesanthurai (KKS)port by buses. Several hours later officers at KKS port told the passengers that Lanka Muditha would not leave to Trincomalee with passengers. Disappointed passengers were later brought down from KKS to Jaffna town. Meanwhile, Trincomalee Divisional Secretary has announced today that the cargo ship Lanka Muditha would leave Trincomalee port on January 3 and 7 to Kankesanthurai with Jaffna bound passengers.
