Protest planned over Jaffna disappearances

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 09 December 1997, 23:59 GMT]
The organisation for the arrested and disappeared will hand over a memorandum to the Jaffna Government Agent (GA) and will stage a protest satyagraha at the Nallur Kandasamy temple tomorrow.

A spokesman for the organisation said that members and sympathisers of the organisation will go in procession through the Jaffna town to hand over the memorandum.

The march will begin from the organisation's office at Stanley road and will proceed along the hospital road, Vembady road, Main street, Kandy road and reach the Kachcheri; after giving the memorandum to the Jaffna GA it will wind its way to the Nallur temple for the Satyagraha.

The EPDP has meanwhile fixed an appointment for the organisation to meet the Sri Lankan President on December 29. A fifteen member delegation will leave Jaffna either on December 23 or 26 for the meeting.

The delegation will also consist of Rev. S. Soosainathan and a Hindu priest called Kaneshawaranatha Kurukkal said a spokesman of the organisation.
