Security for EPDP MP withdrawn

The Police in Batticaloa have withdrawn the security provided to Mr. A.Rasamanikkam, Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) Member of Parliament from noon today, said the District Organizer of the EPDP, Viji Thangarajah.

Sources added that the Police had acted in revenge as the EPDP organized the Friday 'hartal' against the proposed pass system expected to be introduced in the Batticaloa and Ampara districts with effect from February 15.

Three police personnel were provided to Mr.Rasamanikkam as security in Batticaloa. From today noon they were withdrawn. Mr.Rasamanikkam is in Colombo, sources said.
