President, Opposition meet next week

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge has invited the leader of the Opposition, Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe for discussions on constitutional reforms scheduled to be presented to the Parliament by her government.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at the president's official residence, The Temple Trees, on Tuesday, 22nd of February, at 9.30 a.m. sources said. If the Leader of the United National Party (UNP) is able to present his views by the 21st of February it will set the stage for a successful meeting, the President said in her letter. Mr.Wickremasinghe has already informed the president that the United National Party would support the government's constitutional proposals despite its reservations. In a letter to the president he said "since you do not have another solution we will not stand in the way of the course of action you intend to adopt."
