Six killed in plane crash

Six crew members were killed and two others wounded when a cargo plane crashed at Kadirana in Negombo, about 5 km. north of Katunayaka International Air Port, around 6 p.m. this evening.

The plane belonging to private company, 'Sky cab' was ferrying cargo from Bankok to Sri Lanka for a private firm.

Among those killed were five Russians. The other was a Sri Lankan said sources. The wounded were admitted to the Negombo hospital.

At least ten houses, a church and a garment factory were damaged in the crash. Several vehicles were also damaged sources said.

Two people, including a child on the ground were also killed in the crash.

The aircraft may have crashed due to bad weather the sources said.
