Tiger flags appear in Mannar town

The Sri Lankan Police hastily removed flags of the Liberation Tigers that had been hoisted in the high security zone of Mannar town early Monday morning. The Tiger flag was put up at the hospital road junction, Bazzar road and at the Mannar stadium by unidentified persons suspected to be members and supporters of the Liberation Tigers Police sources in Mannar town said.
The Sri Lanka army, meanwhile, conducted a house to house search in Moor street, which is also in the town's high security zone, on information that the Tigers had hidden an anti aircraft weapon in this area. The operation was on from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sri Lankan security forces stepped up patrolling in Moor street, Panankattikottu and Sinnakadai today according to sources in Mannar town.
