Jaffna school boy shot dead

Somasundaram Sanjeevan, a student studying in General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) at Jaffna Hindu College was shot dead by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers on Thursday, 13 July, He was returning home after playing soccer at the school ground when he was shot, the sources said.
SLA claimed that the youth was a member of the Liberation Tigers and handed over the body to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. Hospital police informed Sanjeevan's parents that the body will be handed over to them if they acknowledge that their son was a LTTE member. However, parents have denied any involvement of their son with Liberation Tigers. The body is still lying in the hospital mortuary. Students in Jaffna are planning to boycott the schools if the police fail to handover the body to the parents before Monday.
