Unidentified men abduct youth

Unidentified men in a white van abducted a Tamil youth at Old Moor Street in Colombo's business suburb of Pettah, Monday night around 8.30 said sources. The youth is a native of Nainatheevu, an island off Jaffna town.

Witnesses said the men questioned the youth at an apartment building where he was living and later took him away in the van. Further details were not known.

In a similar incident a Tamil student of the Morattuwa University, south of Colombo was abducted on 7 July. His where abouts are not known yet.

Mr.Yogarajan, a MP for Colombo told Government's Anti Harassment Committee that the student, S.Sakthivel, was abducted near the university by men believed to be members of the security forces who had come in white van.
