The Executive Committee of the Tamil United Liberation Front on Sunday unanimously decided to take a firm stand on the constitutional formulation in respect of the Structure of the State, the Unit of Devolution and the title to and powers of disposition over State Land in the Northeast province in keeping with the policies of the party and acceptable to the Tamil people.
The Executive Committee of the TULF today met at the party Headquarters under the Chairmanship of Mr.V.Anandasangaree, senior vice-president. The content of the ongoing negotiations in regard to constitutional reform was explained to the members of the committee. The unanimous view of the Committee was that the party should remain firm on the position that the Constitutional formulations particularly in respect of - (1) the Structure of the State
- (2) the Unit of Devolution - in particular the Party's opposition to the holding of a Referendum in the eastern province, and
- (3) the title to and powers of disposition over State Land in the north-east should be in keeping with the policies of the party and acceptable to the Tamil people.
This was stated in a press release issued by the TULF after the Executive Committee meeting. The Executive Committee of the TULF will meet again shortly, party sources said.
