28 billion more raised for war

The Sri Lankan government raised 28 billion rupees more for its increasing defence expenditure through five supplementary estimates submitted to the Parliament Wednesday. The government has already raised 26 billion following reversals suffered by the army in the north in April- May in addition to the 41.47 billion allocated for defence in this year's budget.
Of 28 billion, the Sri Lanka Army will receive 16.51 billion, the Sri Lanka Navy 4.14 billion, the Sri Lanka Air Force 5.85 billion and the Police and the Special Task Force (STF) will be allocated 1.3 billion rupees. Military trained Police and STF commandos are deployed in many parts of the war zone in the north and east of the island.
