Tigers attack Kaluwanchikudy STF

The Liberation Tigers attacked a group of Special Task Force (STF) and Police personnel near the Kaluwanchikudy STF camp last evening around 5.30 p.m. wounding three seriously. Kaluwanchikudy is about thirty kilometers south of Batticaloa on the Kalmunai road.

The LTTE had come in a van from the Eruvil side (a village nearby) firing on the six STF and Police men who were standing in group about fifty yards from the camp.The van had then gone into the interior of Kaluwanchikudy.

There was heavy shelling from the STF camp in the direction in which the van had gone soon after the incident. Ten houses in the area were damaged in the shelling.
