Tigers overwhelm satellite camp

The Liberation Tigers attacked and broke through a section of the Forward defence Lines of the Sri Lanka army ahead of the Mannar-Vavuniya highway about 30 kilometers west of Vavuniya town, overwhelming a satellite camp in that sector in the early hours of the morning Wednesday.
The LTTE attacked a string of defence localities north of the highway near the strategic Parayanalankulam junction in the Ganeshapuram sector SLA sources in Vavuniya town said. There was no contact with the satellite camp until about 8.30 a.m they said. Reinforcements have been rushed to the area according to the SLA sources. According to initial reports 4 SLA soldiers were killed and 13 others were wounded in the attack. Six soldiers have been report 'missing'. Army sources in Vavuniya said they have recovered the body of a LTTE member who was killed in the attack.
