Government delays Monthly allowances for medical staffs

Monthly allowances to hospital registrars, doctors working in the OPD and nurses in the central hospital at Puthukudiyiruppa, in the Mullaitivu District have been delayed by the Government in recent months.

The fishermen's society of Mullaithivu has helped the people in the region by donating 8,700 Rupees (roughly 145.00 US$) to facilitate the burial of 29 corpses , while the NGO Consortium of the Mullaitivu District has donated a hearse to the hospital.

There are over 1000 patients at the hospital of whom the majority suffer from Malaria.
